Share one of your comfort reads. What keeps pulling you back to reread?

A book called Falls Chance Ranch (and the rest of the series). It's actually only available online via its dedicated forum, but people there made it easy to download to e-readers. It's about an office worker who gets burnt out to the point of hallucinations, and he's sent to the ranch to chill out and learn to look after himself better. It's a gay, poly, slow burn, domestic discipline series, and the characters have my heart.

My comfort read was actually another one of your recommendations.

I am always in the mood to reread The High King's Golden Tongue by Meghan Derr (queer romance) - the whole series, really, but especially the first and last book. Derr's worldbuilding is just, really cosy to me. I love her characters (especially Alan who is an absolute sweetheart), I love the way she tackles heavy topics, and she's one of the few authors I know who can take a character I hate in the first book and make me love them and accept them as a love interest in the last one.

Oh! I have to reread The High King's Golden Tongue…. *checks* I haven't reread it since 2021 so it's about darn time.

Dr. Maxwell Thorton Murder Mysteries by S.C Wynne (Strange medicine, Scalpels & Psychopats, Arsenic and old lies..etc.)

The Milverton Mysteries by G.B Ralph (Murder on Milverton Square, Poison at Penshaw Hall …etc)

Night Shift by TA Moore (Shift work, Split shift, and shiftless)

Big Bad Wolf by Charlie Adhara (The wolf at the door, the wolf at the bay…etc)

Captive Prince trilogy by C.S Pacat (Captive Prince, Prince's Gambit and Kings Rising)

Howl at the moon series by Eli Easton (How to howl at the moon, how to walk like a man etc)

The Radiance Series by Tavia Lark (The Necromancer's Light, The Paladin's Shadow and The Sword-witch's heart)

…and more or less everything from KJ Charles, Cat Sebastian, Gregory Ashe, CS Poe, and Josh Lanyon…..there's more authors I reread and devour too but I can't think of them right now. This was just from the top of my head XD;;;

Morgan Biscup The joys of audiobooks XD …I used to read instead of sleep, but now I can read while driving to and from work and while doing other chores (like walking 1 hour and 40 min a day) and while doing other hobbies, like gaming and drawing. I get my favorite audiobooks as physical books, too. I also have a large ebook library that I read before sleeping…Though I mostly read manga/comics before sleeping. XD;;

I always have to have something to listen to while I do something else, so it's either YouTube or audiobooks. 🙂

Sorry for the lack of question last week! Had some unexpected responsibilities. So have a question today.

We all have our favorite things to find in books, from tropes to representation to dynamics to the little moments most people probably overlook. Sometimes these are easy to find; other times it's a challenge to really hunt down that one thing.

What do you wish you saw more often in books?
